DENVER, CO – OCTOBER 24: Quarterback Paxton Lynch /

Today, we take a look back at the 2016 Denver Broncos Draft class to see where we missed, hit and well, did okay. Let’s begin.

Now that many of the players have hit their second contracts in the NFL, let’s look back at the 2016 NFL Draft class for the Denver Broncos and grade each selection in retrospect.

Paxton Lynch, Quarterback

Do I really need to elaborate on what a failure this pick was? Next…

Adam Gotsis, Defensive line

The 2nd round pick in this draft class, Adam Gotsis arrived in Denver with the label of “the reach pick”. According to many draft analysts, Gotsis was projected to be a 4th-5th round pick.

That didn’t stop Elway selecting Gotsis in the second day of the Draft. Four years later, we have one question to ask ourselves regarding this pick. Was he worth selecting in the 2nd round? The answer, to me, is just as cloudy as the day we picked him.

On one hand, Gotsis did develop into a starting Defensive End, showing great potential as a run blocker. In his four years as a Bronco, Adam Gotsis played in 57 games (28 starts) and recorded 109 tackles, 5 sacks, 13 pass deflections and 2 forced fumbles.

The numbers aren’t sterling, by any means. He’s the type of player that was meant to be a great run stuffer and a stout presence in the trenches.

So depending on how you value that kind of play is how we’ll ultimately remember Adam Gotsis. Was he a bad pick? No. Should we expected more from him, considering his draft status? Yes. For that reason, he resulted in being just an average player for the Broncos.
