Rashard Higgins

Rashard Higgins was a standout player at Colorado State University in college, becoming a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award in 2014. He has yet to be able to translate that success to the NFL.

But he has shown flashes.

A fifth-round pick of the Cleveland Browns in 2016, Higgins had an up and down tenure there, starting with being released shortly into his rookie season. He was signed to the practice squad and worked his way back to the main roster as a fourth or fifth option on the depth chart.

In 2018, he started to gain the eye of rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield and it seemed the two had formed a solid connection. Higgins finished that season with 39 receptions for 572 yards and four touchdowns.

But with Freddie Kitchens becoming the Browns’ head coach in 2019, Higgins saw his career go the opposite direction of what many were hoping for. Kitchens and Higgins seemed to be at odds and the wide receiver was basically phased out of the offense.

News surrounding Higgins has been scarce this offseason, but reports suggest that the Buffalo Bills have shown interest.

The Broncos could sign the player once affectionately known as “Hollywood” to a cheap, one-year deal in which a roster spot would not even be guaranteed.

The Broncos wouldn’t be getting a star in Higgins that could become a Pro-Bowl caliber player. But what they would be getting is a player with 45 games of NFL experience who has played with a young quarterback before.

He could be a real asset for Drew Lock.
