Derek Wolfe Denver Broncos 2020 NFL Free Agency

After adding Jurrell Casey to the mix, why not bring back Derek Wolfe?

The Broncos’ in-house free agents have not seemingly found the market to their liking, now that they’ve been able to taste and see what being a free agent is really like.

Although Connor McGovern signed for a nice $9 million per season, Chris Harris Jr. got way less money than he was asking for from the Broncos (over $13 million) from the LA Chargers and there has not been much of a market, at least that we know of, for guys like Wolfe and even Shelby Harris.

Who knows? Maybe the Broncos could end up bringing both guys back for reasonable prices…

Wolfe was better for the Broncos last year than Harris, even though he played in four fewer games. That availability is definitely something that Shelby Harris has going for him, but Wolfe is seemingly the preferred choice with his ability to rush the passer as well as defend the run.

Harris can get a rush on, but not at the same rate as Wolfe.

Wolfe proved he was a good fit in Vic Fangio’s defense with seven sacks in 12 games last season. If the Broncos can sign him to a reasonable deal, he should come back.
