Broncos allowing employees to work from home indefinitely
The Denver Broncos are allowing their employees to work from home due to the coronavirus that is going around.
The sports world is essentially being shut down for the month of March. The emergence of the sickness known as ‘coronavirus’ has affected every part of sports including the NFL and the Denver Broncos.
According to Broncos Executive Vice President of Football Operations Patrick Smyth, the organization is allowing its employees to stay and work from home if their job allows them to.
It’s a smart move, as a number of NFL teams have made the same decision across the NFL, and numerous major sports leagues (including the NHL, MLB, NCAA, and NBA) are suspending their respective seasons for the time being. The NCAA has even cancelled March Madness.
Per Mike Klis of 9NEWS, some football/security/facility employees will remain on-site to work.
According to the World Health Organization, the definition of coronavirus is:
“Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV). A novel coronavirus (nCoV) is a new strain that has not been previously identified in humans.”
While symptoms may start out to be similar to a common cold, they can increase drastically. Many people have been quarantined.
It is a very unfortunate situation. With many events, such as concerts, sports events, and even entire leagues being cancelled for the time being, it could be just a matter of time before the NFL shuts down operations.
The 2020 NFL Draft is just next month in Las Vegas, and free agency is supposed to happen in between. It’s unknown at this point what will happen but the Broncos and likely every other sports organization or club in the world is taking precautionary measures necessary to keep every employee safe.
