The Denver Broncos sent a couple of key personnel members to watch Davion Taylor and others at the 2020 Colorado Pro Day.

Although other sports leagues are taking drastic measures in times of serious uncertainty with the COVID-19 virus affecting the entire globe, the NFL has been business as usual, relatively speaking.

With less than one week before the new league year, the NFL has a lot going on. Thousands of free agents are going to be trying to find new teams to play for, the NFLPA has to complete a player vote on the new CBA by Saturday, the franchise tag deadline has been moved back, and front office personnel people and scouts are making their way around the country for various Pro Day workouts.

That included Wednesday’s workout in Boulder where Colorado Buffaloes star linebacker Davion Taylor put his athletic skills on display once more for NFL teams, including two of the Broncos’ top generals — Brian Stark (Director of College Scouting) and Jordan Dizon (Pro Scout).

Given the fact that the Broncos and every other team in the league are so close to free agency right now, it makes sense that John Elway and Matt Russell — who typically attend the Colorado Pro Day — were not in attendance.

Taylor did drills on the field but limited his athletic testing to another shot at the 40-yard dash and vertical jump.

He did not disappoint.

Taylor ran a blazing 4.39 in the 40-yard dash and had a 36-inch vertical jump.

Not that anyone needed this validation, but Taylor has now put an elite number to the speed that is evident when you watch him play.

This guy flies around the field and his athletic upside is a perfect fit for today’s NFL where linebackers are required to make so many plays in coverage and moving sideline to sideline.

At 6-foot, 228 pounds, Taylor is a bit undersized for the position but he could excel as a WILL linebacker in the NFL where he would be able to ‘see ball, attack ball’.

The Broncos have a need for speed all over their roster, but in particular at the linebacker position. Perhaps they will look to Taylor on day three with one of their 11 total selections.
