Denver Broncos: Potential destinations for Devontae Booker
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
It is very unlikely that Bruce Arians and the Buccaneers will not be looking to add a cast of new running backs. The Bucs’ running back position group came in dead last in productivity in 2018 (via SB Nation).
Tampa Bay’s feature back is Ronald Jones, who finished 2019 with 724 yards, good for 26th in the NFL. However, his average was just 4.2 yards a carry, ranked last among starters.
Jones did have a huge jump from his rookie campaign, in which he finished with just 44 yards. With Jones at 22 years old and secondary back Peyton Barber just 25, Tampa Bay does not lack youth.
However, they do lack depth. At 27, Booker could provide some mentoring and leadership for his younger counterparts and does still have the potential to be a solid No.2 back. Booker can also act as a receiver across the middle, adding another offensive option for whoever is Tampa Bay’s quarterback in 2020.
Overall, Tampa Bay would be a great landing spot for Booker.
