Denver Broncos Mock Draft: Doubling up at multiple positions
The Broncos need help along the offensive line. Wisconsin center Tyler Biadasz might be a solid pickup.
Wisconsin’s rushing attack was stellar in 2019 and a big part of a successful run game is the center position. Badgers running back Jonathan Taylor, who will go early in the draft, ran 320 times for 2,044 yards (net gain of 2,003 yards), and scored 21 rushing touchdowns.
This from TheDraftNetwork.com:
"Tyler Biadasz has all the promise and potential to be a high end starting Center in the NFL. But his 2019 film showed alarming regression nearly across the board — he’s going to have to recapture his functional mobility and technique of his early days at Wisconsin if he is to reach his potential. Given his ceiling as a fit in nearly any system, he’s worth consideration on Day 2 of the draft. But given his risk and inconsistency, it’s hard to advocate drafting him earlier or based on prior year’s film."
Here’s the thing. As long as the Broncos have Mike Munchak coaching the offensive line, I wouldn’t rule out Biadasz’s struggles being resolved at some point during the early stages of his career.
Munchak was able to help Bolles in 2019.
Biadasz’s best contributions come in the run game. He is able to get into great position while blocking defenders, therefore allowing the running back time to find the hole and best way to run the football.
Denver, unfortunately, lost center Matt Paradis in free agency when he signed with the Carolina Panthers. They went with Connor McGovern last season, but McGovern is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent.
I have seen Biadasz ranked as high as late-first round in some people’s eyes. To be able to get him with the 95th pick in the 2020 draft seems to be a steal.
Adding to the offensive line is a must for the Broncos. Adding Biadasz is also a must in my eyes.
