Denver Broncos Mock Draft: Doubling up at multiple positions
With their second-round pick in the 2020 NFL draft, the Broncos select Baylor wide receiver Denzel Mims, and the fact that they were unable to snag one of the top-3 receivers in this draft is a non-factor.
Two things, in particular, make Mims a phenomenal pick for the Broncos.
- Catch radius
- Speed
Mims didn’t have great quarterback play at Baylor. A lot of the time, we saw him have to dive or reach out for passes that were not on point. He was able to make those plays and bail his quarterback out.
Mims’ speed has definitely not gone unnoticed. He can beat his man and that has been proven by his college tape. He ran a 4.38-second 40-yard dash during the 2020 NFL combine.
Whew. Incredible.
The Broncos are in need of a receiver to pair with 2018 second-round pick Courtland Sutton, who has become a star in this league already, making his first Pro Bowl for his efforts in his second season (2019). He replaced DeAndre Hopkins.
Mims can also be a reliable run blocker.
Let me tell you: I really do believe that Mims would be a spectacular selection by the Broncos for the reasons above. Having him in Denver would certainly help out Lock.
