Cory Littleton, LB, Los Angeles Rams

The Broncos decided to exercise the option on the contract of Todd Davis, but that doesn’t mean the team is set at linebacker. Instead, the Broncos can hold Davis as their fall-back option should the team not be able to find a better one in free agency.

But a better one, a considerably better one, is out there.

If you want an active, athletic, three-down linebacker that does a bit of everything, Cory Littleton is your guy.

Undrafted out of Washington in 2016, Littleton has become an integral piece of the Rams’ defense, making big plays seemingly every game. In four seasons, Littleton has 315 total tackles, 8.5 sacks and six interceptions. He was selected to the Pro Bowl following the 2018 season in which he helped the Rams reach the Super Bowl and had an interception of Tom Brady in that game.

Littleton is able to get downhill quickly and attack the ball carrier and he is an effective blitzing linebacker. But what will be most appealing to Broncos fans is his ability to drop back into pass coverage, seamlessly.

All of those tight ends that burn the Broncos and have done so for several years running? Littleton could help curb that.

If the team was able to sign Reader, as suggested, then Littleton becomes even more effective as Reader will open things up at the point of attack in order for Littleton to swoop in and be the playmaker that he is.

He is only 26 years old and has the prime of his career in front of him. The Rams would almost certainly like to keep him in the fold and there will be a line of teams waiting to sign him, but if the Broncos splurge on only one free agent once the signing period starts, it should be this guy.
