Prince Amukamara, CB, Chicago Bears

Speaking of players that could do well under Fangio, Amukamara is one for sure, having played in Fangio’s scheme with the Bears.

The move to get Bouye was largely seen as one that would help replace Chris Harris who many expect to depart for another team, but the Broncos needed help at cornerback even if they re-sign Harris.

Operating under the assumption that they won’t, Amukamara comes over to help shore up the secondary and give the team some veteran depth in the defensive backfield. The former first-round pick will be entering his 10th season in the league.

The Broncos have Bouye but assuming Harris leaves, there is a hole in terms of an adequate starting cornerback. Should the team sign Amukamara and be able to pair him with Bouye and a hopefully 100 percent healthy Bryce Callahan, the team could have the secondary it envisioned at the start of last season.

Amukamara has 10 career interceptions and 78 pass deflections. Would he be an upgrade over guys like De’Vante Bausby, Davontae Harris and Isaac Yiadom? Most likely yes, but the knowledge and experience he would bring to the team, particularly having already worked with Fangio in the past, is what makes the move a bit of a no-brainer.
