Free agency: Cornerbacks

Sign Prince Amukamara (2 years, $13 million)

Although signing Prince Amukamara is not going to be the sexiest move the Broncos can make in the 2020 offseason, it might be one of the wisest.

Amukamara will be 31 this season but he’s proven he can excel in Vic Fangio’s defense, and he was still playing at a high level this past season.

If Amukamara is brought in, the Broncos would have flexibility with trades and the NFL Draft at the cornerback position, a crop that is fairly deep in 2020.

Trade 3rd-round pick for Darius Slay, re-sign to 3 year, $45 million extension

Darius Slay is one of the more interesting players potentially available this offseason as he will only count $10 million against the 2020 salary cap. The Broncos can afford to pay Slay beyond this season, but getting both he and Prince Amukamara in the fold would give the Broncos a secondary full of veterans who are smart, aggressive, and good for Fangio’s defense.

Slay has had some of the best production at the cornerback position in the last five years with 82 pass breakups and 17 interceptions.
