Free agency: Linebacker

Sign Joe Schobert (4 years, $44 million)

Since entering the league as a tweener off-ball linebacker and edge rusher out of Wisconsin, Joe Schobert has really developed into a heck of an all-around player for the Cleveland Browns.

He finished with 133 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, two sacks, nine pass breakups, and four interceptions en route to the Pro Bowl in the 2019 season, and he should now be in line for a big-money free agent contract.

If the Broncos were to make this move, it would also mean moving on from starter Todd Davis, whose $500,000 contract option will be exercised by the team.

Davis being released or traded would save the Broncos $4.5 million in 2020 cap space, making the year one cap hit for a player like Schobert more palatable.

The Broncos would pair Schobert and his versatile skillset with Alexander Johnson to give the Broncos a fearsome, athletic, and versatile linebacker duo in the middle of Vic Fangio’s defense.
