The Denver Broncos reportedly had formal meetings with Laviska Shenault and a couple of other top prospects at the 2020 Scouting Combine.

According to Mike Klis of 9News in Denver, the Broncos held ‘formal’ Combine meetings with a trio of potential top 50 selections in the 2020 NFL Draft, including local superstar Laviska Shenault from Colorado.

In addition to Shenault, the Broncos had formal meetings on Monday evening with Alabama offensive tackle Jedrick Wills and Arizona State wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.

Let’s get to know each of these players a bit more.

Laviska Shenault, WR, Colorado

One of the most interesting playmakers in a very deep wide receiver class, Shenault is built like a running back with big-time speed, vision in the open field, and strength to break tackles after the catch.

There are some injury concerns with Shenault, which has given Broncos fans pause after the 2019 season where so many big investments went down with season-ending injuries, but Shenault is a talented prospect whose local ties would certainly endear him to the fan base.

He’s capable of being a monster after the catch as well as stretching the field vertically.

Brandon Aiyuk, WR, Arizona State

Aiyuk is a fascinating study. Many believe he’s a superior prospect to his former teammate N’Keal Harry, who was a first-round pick of the New England Patriots in 2019.

Aiyuk is not quite 6-feet tall, but he has a massive 6-foot-8 wingspan (80 inches) and big-time speed.

His ridiculous measurables combined with what is expected to be very good long speed make Aiyuk a very underrated first-round option for the Broncos, who could perhaps move down in the first round and get one of SHenault or Aiyuk.

Jedrick Wills, OT, Alabama

At this point in time, it would be a shocker if Wills were on the board when the Broncos pick at 15 overall. If they want Wills, they will likely have to trade up for him.

The former Alabama right tackle has sweet feet and is a mauler in the run game. He’s still blossoming as a player, but his size and strength are NFL-ready and he’s already proven he can shut down his side of the line in pass pro.

I think he projects well at either tackle position and should be gone in the first 10 picks. He could be OT1 in this class.

Other prospect meetings (informal)

Tee Higgins, WR, Clemson

Higgins is a big-bodied receiver whose game is reminiscent of Courtland Sutton’s. Imagine the Broncos having two of such a guy…

Justin Jefferson, WR, LSU

Jefferson is one of my ‘guys’ in this draft class. He’s probably the best slot receiver in the entire group.

Gabriel Davis, WR, UCF

We haven’t looked much into Gabriel Davis’ game just yet, and the fact that he has the Broncos on his ‘interview docket’ leads me to believe this could be a formal meeting.

Henry Ruggs III, WR, Alabama

And all of Broncos Country rejoices…

Ruggs has been the most popular player for the Broncos in mock drafts, but his speed could put him atop the WR position group. Seriously. He runs on Thursday night.

Denzel Mims, WR, Baylor

Denzel Mims is a guy who is gaining steam as yet another first-round receiver candidate. He’s got an outstanding catch radius and really good speed.

He was the second pick in the latest Broncos mock draft here at Predominantly Orange.

These informal meeting revelations are heavy on receivers, and that’s because the wide receivers and quarterbacks met with the media on Tuesday so they could obviously be asked which teams they’ve interacted with.
