In this edition of Brick, Mortar and Scrap, we take a look at the specialists and see which speicalists can help the Denver Broncos in 2020.

When we play football, what’s the position we all want to play most? I’m sure none of you said long snapper.  Yeah, let’s just say that being a specialist isn’t the most glamorous job on a team.

With that said, a bad play from any one of them could result in a win or loss. No position is so focused on one play than being a specialist. Despite only being on the field a small percentage of the game, your play could determine the entire outcome for the team.

Talk about pressure.

In this edition of Brick, Mortar and Scrap, we take a look at the specialists and see which specialists can help the Denver Broncos in 2020.

Brandon McManus

As the unsung hero of Super Bowl 50 (yes, he played that big of a role), Brandon McManus has been the mainstay in the special teams group since the 2015 season.

McManus first arrived in Denver before the 2014 season in a trade with the New York Giants. At the time, McManus was seen as a fill in for Matt Prater as he was serving a four game suspension.

Since cementing himself as the Broncos placekicker in 2015, Brandon McManus has made over 82 percent of his field goal attempts and played a large role in the Broncos securing their third Lombardi Trophy.

While nobody would mistake him for Jason Elam (or his predecessor, Matt Prater), McManus has proven himself to be a very steady and reliable kicker.

Considering how some teams suffered this year due to lack of productive field goal kicking, McManus should be considered one of the least of the Broncos worries.

With one year left on his current contract, I think it’s a good bet to say that McManus will stick as the Broncos kicker in 2020.
