In this edition of Brick, Mortar and Scrap, we take a look at the linebackers to see who can help the Denver Broncos in 2020 and beyond.

Linebacker. A position most(if not all of us) wanted to play at some point in our lifetimes. The position represents the root of what makes football fun. Being able to run around and tackle is what initially draws most of us to the game and no position bears that spirit better than a linebacker.

For the Denver Broncos, this position holds a very special place in our hearts. From the vaunted Orange Crush defense to the game wrecking defense that gave us our Super Bowl 50 victory, the Broncos have a rich history of great linebackers and how they’ve changed the fortunes of the franchise.

Let’s begin.

Von Miller

I don’t think there’s much to be said about #58. The former 2nd overall pick has done nothing but be an amazing player for the Broncos. I can list all of the impressive stats to help validate Von’s status on the roster but none of them stand out more than being the MVP of Super Bowl 50.

Without him, we don’t have a 3rd Lombardi Trophy right now. That’s a fact.

As if that wasn’t enough, the Broncos have announced that they will exercise the option in his contract, keeping him around for 2020.

Von’s the highest drafted player in the Broncos history (Elway doesn’t count) and he’s done nothing but justify that pick. If there were ever a guy to be considered a “Brick” on a team, it would be a guy like Von.
