Conclusion

Looking at this free agent group — and the Broncos could do more (how about some offense?) — the Broncos would be assembling a tremendous-looking defense with a combination of youth, athleticism, upside, and balance in terms of defending the run and pass.

The unit as a whole could look something like this if these moves were made:

DE: Dre’Mont Jones
NT: DJ Reader/Mike Purcell
DE: Leonard Williams
OLB: Von Miller
ILB: Alexander Johnson
ILB: Cory Littleton
OLB: Bradley Chubb
CB: Byron Jones
CB: Bryce Callahan
NCB: Will Parks
FS: Justin Simmons
SS: Kareem Jackson

That is a balanced group of players with speed, athleticism, and experience to go along with youth.

If the Broncos put together a free agent class made up primarily of these guys, they could still look into signing a player like BJ Finney to start at center and perhaps some other depth moves on either side of the ball, but the way things are looking in free agency at this point (pre-cuts), this is a direction I would take if I were John Elway trying to compete with the Kansas City Chiefs going forward.
