1. Justin Simmons, safety

Whether he gets hit with the franchise tag or if he’s rewarded with a long-term deal (hopefully the latter), Justin Simmons will be back with the Broncos in 2020.

He’s a critical piece of not only the secondary, but this Vic Fangio defense as a whole.

Fangio has been known to develop some really good safeties in his system with Ed Donatell through the years, and Simmons is the latest.

He flies around the field with phenomenal instincts, speed, quickness, and range.

Simmons is equally effective in the box as he is playing deep, and the Broncos truly have a star on their hands here.

It wouldn’t be a stretch to say that Simmons is the best defensive back on the 2020 free agent market this offseason, and this is a very deep class of players. The Broncos bringing back Simmons seems like a no-brainer at this point in time, but it’s one of the five moves that I think can really keep this team on the right track and put them in contention for the foreseeable future.

Last season, Simmons had 93 tackles, 15 pass breakups, and four interceptions.
