Colt McCoy, Washington Redskins (age 33)
Although some expect the Jacksonville Jaguars are the odds-on favorite team to sign Colt McCoy due to his relationship with their new offensive coordinator Jay Gruden (McCoy’s head coach in Washington) there is a chance McCoy’s relationship with Pat Shurmur from his Cleveland days could make a difference in Denver.
McCoy is going to be 34 at the start of the 2020 NFL season, and he’s established himself as a pretty decent backup in the NFL as a 60.7 percent career passer with 29 touchdowns and 27 interceptions.
McCoy was outstanding as a college player at Texas and the Browns took him as a value pick in the third round, feeling like there was a chance they had stolen a starter at that particular point in time, but McCoy was only able to start 21 games for Cleveland before they went a different direction.
He’s been with Washington for five years, and understands his role in the NFL right now. Denver would perhaps offer him a better chance to actually play some than Jacksonville, so that could give the Broncos an edge if they were to prioritize him.
