Broncos 7-round mock draft: Finding depth in the Senior Bowl
At this particular point in the offseason, with the way this draft class is shaping up and the way the free agent class is shaping up, it makes the most sense to me for the Broncos’ top two selections in the 2020 NFL Draft to be wide receiver and interior offensive line.
They could use their top pick on someone like Tristan Wirfs, who is considered a potential All-Pro prospect at guard by Daniel Jeremiah, and then come back and use the second-round pick on someone like Jalen Reagor or something like that, but the way this board fell, the combination of Henry Ruggs and Cesar Ruiz gives me a duo of picks that truthfully would help me sleep at night if I’m the Broncos.
Ruggs adds the speed the Broncos desperately need in the passing game, and Ruiz looks like a plug-and-play NFL starter at either center or guard, though he has been a center for the Wolverines the past three years.
Ruiz is built NFL-ready with excellent strength and awareness at the line of scrimmage, and although he may not be as great athletically as someone like Lloyd Cushenberry, I think this is another guy who gives you borderline first-round value in round two as a starter on the interior offensive line.
