The Denver Broncos have an opportunity with so many draft picks to find depth in this year’s Senior Bowl class all throughout the 2020 NFL Draft.

Denver Broncos general manager John Elway has emphasized the team’s need to score more points in the 2020 offseason.

He also spoke with Steve Atwater and says he feels that the Senior Bowl is a great opportunity to find guys in the middle rounds who can give your team much-needed depth.

Well, the Broncos currently have nine picks in the 2020 NFL Draft but Elway expects them to have 12, and we’re going to take a look at a seven-round mock draft where they use all 12 of those selections.

Does this roster have room for 12 rookies right now? I am not sure about that, but the Broncos’ injury list in 2019 just kept growing and growing, so even if this team had to add guys through the draft and try to stash some of them on the practice squad, it might not be a bad idea to come away from this class with double-digit picks.

How could the Broncos utilize the depth in this class to address positions of need?

I get plenty of questions about my mock drafts after the fact about why I don’t emphasize certain position groups, namely cornerback or defensive line. I believe we’re going to see the Broncos attack those position groups in free agency, and this mock draft will reflect that.

This mock draft will also reflect the idea that Denver will retain star safety Justin Simmons as well as one of their starting defensive ends (likely Derek Wolfe) among their in-house free agents.

We saw the Broncos take advantage of the strong senior class in the 2018 NFL Draft and they have used a number of premium selections on Senior Bowl guys over the past couple of years, including Drew Lock and Dalton Risner in 2019 and Isaac Yiadom, DaeSean Hamilton, and Troy Fumagalli in 2018.

There are a lot of guys in this year’s Senior Bowl class who could be of interest for the Broncos, and we’re going to get some of them in this mock draft.

Let’s dive into the picks and learn a bit more about what guys could become Broncos in the near future.
