Remaining WR’s

Juwann Winfree

The 6th round pick from last year’s draft showed flashes in the preseason of what he could be but unfortunately, none of it materialized in the regular season. He was only active for three games and failed to record any catches.

While that is disappointing, it’s also important to keep in mind how bullish the Broncos are on giving up on draft picks. Unless the new depth brought in is high caliber and muddies up the reps for Winfree, I think he has a good chance of sticking around on the Practice Squad and maybe the 53 man roster.

2020 Status: Mortar

Fred Brown

The Undrafted WR out of Mississippi State has bounced between different practice squads and active rosters since coming into the league in 2017.  He showed good skills and some playmaking ability in his limited time on the field but unfortunately, I don’t think he sticks around in 2020.

He may be a victim of circumstance. There’s going to be a lot of depth at the position and when the dust settles, I don’t know if there will be a spot left for Brown on the roster. His best chances of sticking around may be to latch onto the Practice Squad and hope he eventually gets called up.

2020 Status: Scrap

Conclusion

For a variety of reasons, this position is hard to predict for 2020. With a new OC coming in, a new philosophy will oversee the offense. Despite most of this group expected to return next year, I could see a few of these guys being on the fence. It all depends on the guys that they bring in this offseason and what their designated roles will be.

One thing is clear, though. You have on star at the position in Courtland Sutton. The question is, who will end up being his top compliment among that group?
