Dre’Mont Jones, defensive end

The Broncos did not take Dre’Mont Jones with the 71st pick in the 2019 NFL Draft to just sit on the bench for four years.

Jones really came on over the course of his rookie season and as his playing time increased, so did his productivity.

With Shelby Harris and Derek Wolfe approaching free agency, should the Broncos look to replace one of them with Jones?

Why not?

Jones is one of the players who is a high draft pick that this team needs to invest in their development. I am not opposed to bringing back even both of Harris and Wolfe while keeping Jones as a rotational player, but is that where that money is going to be best spent?

I think the Broncos would be best served planning on replacing one of those two starting spots with Jones and re-signing one of the guys or signing someone else from outside of Denver, perhaps adding some depth in free agency or the NFL Draft.

You drafted this guy in hopes that you would perhaps not have to pay two defensive ends $10 million or more per season. Utilize him and add depth behind him, but put some faith in that draft pick.
