Juwann Winfree, wide receiver

Although he was only a sixth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Broncos’ scouting department clearly thought highly of Winfree, who was essentially put on ice during his rookie season.

Despite the Broncos’ numerous depth issues at receiver, Winfree’s opportunity to participate never really came after he showed some nice things both during training camp and preseason play, so we’re all kind of left wondering whether or not this guy is going to be part of the plan going forward or not.

When you watch Winfree play, it’s not hard to see why the Broncos liked him so much to trade up for him, even in the sixth round.

Winfree is 6-1, 210 pounds and runs a solid 4.53 in the 40-yard dash with good route running skills and playmamking ability in space.

Although his speed is not ‘elite’, Winfree has some giddy-up in the open field and understands how to exploit a variety of coverage. With the Broncos seeking at least some depth in their receiver group, where could a guy like this fit in?

He’s athletic enough to hang with NFL talent defensively, so what if this guy becomes a factor in 2020?

The Broncos still need to add speed and depth at wide receiver, no question, but Winfree could be a player to keep an eye on in year two.
