Cam Akers 2020 NFL Draft

I’m not ultimately certain how running backs in this class are going to be valued by NFL teams, but almost every scenario I run on TDN involves the best running backs falling down about a round or even sometimes two rounds later than I personally think they will go.

Because it didn’t feel realistic to draft JK Dobbins in the third round and I didn’t want to run another simulation with Najee Harris (though I still quite like him for the Broncos), I wanted to take a look at another prospect who could fit what the Broncos are looking for — Florida State’s Cam Akers.

Akers is an awesome talent who struggled in 2018 after a fantastic 2017 season, but bounced back well in 2019 and has himself firmly in the top 100 prospects for the 2020 NFL Draft.

Not only is Akers slippery and tough to tackle, he’s one of the best pass catchers out of the backfield in this class and has been noted by multiple experts for his ability to pass protect as well.

The Broncos need to push Royce Freeman, and this could be the guy to do it.
