Denver Broncos brick, mortar, and scrap: Quarterbacks
By Aric Manthey
Drew Lock
This is without question the biggest lock (I know, I had to throw one in there) of any at the position to return next year. Since being selected as the 42nd pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, Drew Lock has done nothing but cement his status as the starting QB of the Denver Broncos for the foreseeable future.
To say that Lock left a good first impression would be an understatement.
In his five-game stint as the starter, he completed 64.1 percent of his passes for 1,020 yards with 7 TDs/3 INTs and an impressive 4-1 record.
If that wasn’t enough, the way teammates have glowed about his confidence, football IQ and on-field demeanor has left nothing but an immense amount of hope amongst the fanbase in Broncos Country. While we have to temper our expectations, it’s hard not to be excited to see the team finally land a young QB with so much upside.
It’ll be fun to watch Lock grow as a player in 2020 and I expect it to be the first of many successful years as the Broncos starting QB.
For the first time in years, the Broncos have a young QB to build around. That alone is enough to warrant “brick status” on this list.
2020 Status: Brick
