Third round, first pick

Phillip Lindsay averaged 14 carries per game this season for the Broncos, making his second-straight 1,000-yard season all the more impressive.

With that said, the Broncos clearly want to manage Lindsay’s touches. He needs to take the next step in his game as a receiver, but do the Broncos have their ‘bellcow’ back on the roster right now?

John Elway said that’s what he wanted Royce Freeman to be, but Freeman took a step back in year two. The Broncos’ offensive line didn’t do him many favors, so perhaps that will be taken into consideration, but the Broncos are going to have to really consider whether Freeman is the back they want to feature in this offense with Lindsay after what we saw this past season.

Najee Harris has had a fantastic season at Alabama, and is a massive back with pass catching abilities.

The running game has to be effective next season in order for Drew Lock to be able to do what he does on a consistent basis. Perhaps the running back position needs to be addressed quicker than we would have anticipated. Harris would be a fun fit as a one-cut runner who can grind out tough yards as well as play a role in the passing game.
