Gift: WR Courtland Sutton

The Denver Broncos were gifted Courtland Sutton in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft out of SMU, and although his skills were somewhat raw coming out, he always had the physical talent and work ethic to be a star in the NFL.

I don’t know that anyone thought Sutton could be as good as he has been in 2019 with where we ended the 2018 season.

At the end of 2018, Sutton was struggling to beat press coverage, struggling with drops, and struggling to make plays in general outside of running deep and winning jump ball situations.

This year, Sutton has not only emerged as a complete player at the position, but he also became a Pro Bowl alternate with a lot of incompetence at the quarterback position for the first 11 games of the season.

Sutton has 68 receptions for 1,060 yards and six touchdowns this season, and a ton of highlight-reel catches showing off his insane catch radius. When you look back on the 2019 season for Sutton, it’s going to become more and more incredible just how he was able to put together the season he has.

He’s emerged as a complete receiver in 2019 and is a cornerstone piece for the Broncos to build their offense around going forward.
