Although the Broncos’ safety position is pretty solid at the top, there’s no doubt about the team’s need for some depth on the back end of the defense.

We’ve seen that come up a lot in 2019, and if the Broncos have a repeat of this year in 2020, they are going to need better reinforcements on the back end.

Antoine Winfield Jr., son of former star NFL cornerback Antoine Winfield, has seven interceptions this season and has versatility on the back end, though he’s been starring at safety this season.

He’s only a redshirt sophomore, but has been on campus for four years struggling with some injuries. He would be a nice value at this point in the draft, as would Julian Blackmon.

Blackmon is making another appearance in my mock draft and will continue to be one of my favorite mid-round picks if he’s being projected there.

He’s got nine interceptions in the last three seasons for Utah and has versatility as a safety and cornerback. The Broncos obviously use guys in multiple spots so he could potentially play nickel/dime as a rookie or even contribute outside at corner if need be.

This round is all about guys who specialize in taking the football away.
