Alright, let’s start off with a couple of discussion points here.

  • OT is not mandatory for the Broncos in the first round
  • Jedrick Wills may end up OT3 on some boards, maybe lower. He is also already OT1 on some boards.

The Broncos may choose to move forward in 2020 as though Garett Bolles is the starting left tackle. With that said, I think Jedrick Wills is slowly but surely emerging as a true blue-chip prospect and he was the best player available when my time to pick came around with guys like Isaiah Simmons and Henry Ruggs also still on the board.

There are many options the Broncos could pursue in the first round of this draft, and tackle is certainly one of them. Wills could even start off as a right guard if they want and move to left tackle if Bolles struggles, play his natural right tackle spot if Ja’Wuan James gets hurt, or whatever else.

That wouldn’t be easy but the Broncos have one of the best OL coaches in the game and they could get Wills up to speed quickly wherever they would put him.

Projecting forward, this player might be a pipe dream for the Broncos. He seems to be gaining serious steam as the top OT in this class.

Wills is a monster at 6-foot-5, 320 pounds with outstanding hand punch, technique, and ability to flat out plant guys in the ground.

Surround Lock with the best talent possible, even if it means making a non-sexy pick in the trenches like this. Wills is a blue-chip player the more you watch him.

Even if this pick gets swapped out for Tristan Wirfs (Iowa) or Andrew Thomas (Georgia) I think the Broncos would be making a wise investment. This is one of the best OT classes we’ve seen in some time.
