Denver Broncos regroup with strong second half vs. Lions
By Tylor Walden
The Denver Broncos had a slow start for the first 20 minutes of the game but were able to respond in a big way against the Detroit Lions.
Well, the first portion of the game did not go well for the Denver Broncos. But what a response from the team after the Detroit Lions scored on a 64 yard punt return. They were able to stop the bleeding and even tied the game going into the half.
Right out of the second half gate, the Denver Broncos drove down and were able to get a field goal to take their first lead of the game. After scoring 13 unanswered points, Detroit bounced back and scored a touchdown of their own.
But did Denver fall apart? Not at all. In fact, the team outscored the Lions 14-0 the rest of the way. And I will give Broncos Country a little bonus. Denver scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter. It marked the first time since week four against the Jacksonville Jaguars that the team got a touchdown in the final frame.
They were able to get touchdowns from DaeSean Hamilton and Phillip Lindsay to help get the Broncos to win number six on the season. Drew Lock is now 3-1 to start his NFL career and he will look to eliminate the Oakland Raiders on the final Sunday of the regular season.
What impressed me the most in this game was the game plan that Rich Scangarello had in the second. Myself, along with the majority of Broncos Country has given him a lot of criticism for his non adjustment play calling. But he came through and helped lead to a 17-7 second half for the Denver Broncos.
Great performance from the Broncos, who will now try to avoid their third straight double digit losing season when the Oakland Raiders come to town. A win will give Denver second place in the AFC West and a lot of momentum going forward.
Let’s go Broncos!
