Shelby Harris, DL
If the Denver Broncos needed extra motivation to make Shelby Harris a priority in the offseason, well, as comedian Jeff Foxworthy says:
“Here’s your sign.”
Shelby Harris was able to get to the elusive Patrick Mahomes on Sunday, and was able to come away with two sacks on the day, despite the pass rush’s overall issues to keep him contained.
After bouncing around the league a bit since being drafted in 2014 (playing for the Raiders, Jets and Cowboys) and not staying on one team for more than a season, Shelby Harris seems to have finally found a system that fits him, and a team he is perfect with.
Harris is having his best season yet, setting personal bests in tackles, sacks, tied for career tackles for loss, batted passes, and better yet, leads defensive linemen in batted passes in 2019. However, Shelby Harris will be a free agent in 2020, and should be quite the hot commodity.
If the Denver Broncos don’t pay him, someone else will. Although John Elway and the front office will be faced with some hard decisions this offseason, and will no doubt have to let some good players go, Shelby Harris should not be one of these players.
Pay the man!
