Stock Up

Kareem Jackson, S

Although Kareem Jackson’s stock sinks a bit with the breaking news of his two-game suspension, meaning he will miss the rest of 2019, he balled out once again Sunday and proved why he has been such a tremendous addition to the Denver Broncos defense.

Jackson has to be one of the hardest hitting safeties in the game, and that included a play on Sunday in which he absolutely laid the wood on Chiefs’ WR Sammy Watkins in an absolutely brutal (but legal!) hit. This play could be a good summary of Jackson’s 2019 campaign, in which he has been an absolute beast.

At a few months shy of 32 years old, Kareem Jackson has shown no signs of slowing down or playing his age; he flies all over the field and is quite speedy. With the Texans choosing to not re-sign him, he may have felt he still had something to prove. And prove it, he has.

Jackson may give Broncos Country some nostalgic flashbacks to the play of former S T.J. Ward, whose “dawg” attitude and hard hits made him a fan favorite of the “No Fly Zone” defense.

While the “No Fly Zone” really is no more, the Broncos’ defense is definitely trending in the right direction with guys like Kareem Jackson, who was given the nod as a 2020 Pro Bowl alternate, although it is unclear if his suspension could impact that, if he were to be bumped onto the roster.
