S Justin Simmons: Stay or go?

Could there be a more obvious ‘stay’?

Justin Simmons has established himself as one of the best young safeties in the league this year and over the last four years, really.

His progression since being drafted in 2016 has been tremendous, and the ball-hawking safety is not only excellent in coverage, but outstanding in run support and a great fit in Vic Fangio’s defense next to Kareem Jackson, giving the Broncos arguably the best safety duo in the NFL.

Simmons doesn’t come off the field, he’s a great teammate, a fantastic leader, active in the community, and is essentially everything the Broncos want their players to represent.

Although Denver had to cut ties with their first-round pick in 2016 (Paxton Lynch), Simmons was a gem from that draft class and has vastly out-played his third-round draft status.

Whether they give him a long-term contract (hopefully) or the franchise tag, there’s no need for Simmons to worry about where he’ll be playing in 2020.

Verdict: Stay
