Teammates love this dude

There’s no question about the fact that Drew Lock’s teammates are fully behind the guy.

We saw an incredible response before, during, and after the game from other Broncos players talking about Lock and what kind of debut we had just witnessed.

This was a highly anticipated debut for everyone in Broncos Country, including the players. NFL players obviously are aware whether or not the quarterback they have leading the charge gives the team a chance to win games, and the Broncos — for the better part of the last four or five years — have not had that.

Lock is a different kind of leader and teammate than Paxton Lynch was as a first-round pick. Lock lives and breathes the game of football and works incredibly hard at his craft. Don’t take my word for it, though. Look at what Dalton Risner had to say after the game.

This is the kind of work ethic you want from your quarterback. And that’s not Lock just trying to impress anybody. He cares about being good at what he does, and he understands that the NFL game is a lot less about physical talent — everyone is a great athlete — than it is about being able to make the right reads, identify coverage, know your playbook inside-out, and have great chemistry with your teammates.

The chemistry is still in the infancy stage, which is thrilling because of what Courtland Sutton said after the game.

That’s just Drew Lock being a smart football player, understanding a teammate’s strengths, and taking the right kind of risk.
