Drew Lock, QB

Rookie QB Drew Lock was thrown to the wolves in a tough first assignment against a stout Chargers defense, and he answered the call. In his first NFL regular-season start, Lock finished the day 18/28 for 134 yards, two TDs and one interception for an overall rating of 84.5 (per ESPN).

While Lock’s stats certainly may not have looked too sexy or flashy, he got the job done when it mattered. It is still well too early to determine that Lock is the franchise QB that the Broncos have been desperately searching for, but Lock made nice plays, was confident, cool under pressure, and had that swagger that you want in a guy in charge of running your offense.

In fact, Lock was not afraid of changing the plays when he felt it necessary:

None of us can see into the future- we don’t know how Lock will play going forward, and if he is finally the answer to John Elway’s prayers. However, he played well enough to win today, and for today, that is all that matters.
