Broncos’ Air Attack vs. Derwin James

The Los Angeles Chargers get a huge boost in getting S Derwin James back in time for a divisional matchup. James has missed all of the season thus far in recovering from a stress fracture in his foot. The second year safety, a former Florida State Seminole, was named a Pro Bowler in his rookie season; getting him back is huge for the Chargers.

On the opposite spectrum, the Chargers getting James back could wreak potential havoc for the Denver Broncos.

The Los Angeles Chargers already boast a pretty stout defense in terms of air and ground defense, and Derwin James may add to the struggles that the Broncos already have when passing the ball. Although Drew Lock has been activated from IR and Brett Rypien has been waived, it still has not been announced as to who will be named starter for Sunday, although it will likely be Lock.

Regardless of who will be under center, James will have a huge opportunity to give the passing attack fits, and a struggling offense is the ideal first assignment for him to get back into his groove. The Broncos’ QB must be vigilant and avoid making costly mistakes against guys like Derwin James, who will make them pay.
