The Denver Broncos have plenty of picks to work with in the first four rounds of the 2020 NFL Draft. Should they seek out a playmaker with their top choice?

The Denver Broncos are close. Painfully close.

As the Broncos’ rebuild marches on to what appears to be yet another losing season, the team is finally showing signs of life and competence offensively now that Brandon Allen has taken over at the quarterback position.

It’s abundantly clear at this point that Allen is not the future for the Broncos at the quarterback position, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t earned some sort of future with the team.

The future of the Broncos, at least the player we hope is the future of the Broncos, is 2019 second-round pick Drew Lock, who began practicing last week when the Broncos returned from the bye, and whose debut we eagerly await.

While we wait, where do the Broncos currently stand in the 2020 NFL Draft order? After their loss against the Minnesota Vikings, they’ve actually moved up a couple of spots in the top 10, and are currently slated to pick seventh overall.

The Broncos’ defense will get a massive boost from the return of Bradley Chubb in 2020, and hopefully they will be able to retain some key players who are currently slated for free agency like Derek Wolfe, Shelby Harris, Justin Simmons, and Chris Harris Jr.

You can’t keep everybody in the NFL, and it’s not all that realistic to think the Broncos can keep all of them, but they might be able to keep the majority of this core group together.

Not only that, but the Broncos have done well to find some players who can factor into the lineup going forward that were not expected to prior to the start of this season, guys like Alexander Johnson at linebacker, Davontae Harris at cornerback, De’Vante Bausby, at cornerback, and Mike Purcell at nose tackle.

The 2020 NFL Draft will give the Broncos a chance to upgrade talent as well as add some much-needed depth, and their work on the offensive side of the ball is not yet finished. If the season ended today, how might the draft look for the Denver Broncos?

Let’s get to mocking, and we’ll look at four rounds of picks using Dane Brugler’s rankings.
