When the Denver Broncos schedule came out, the only game not determined was week 16 vs. the Lions. We now officially have a date and time.
It has been a long time coming. The only game of the Denver Broncos schedule that was not determined when the schedule was released was the Christmas weekend matchup with the Detroit Lions. The game was slated to be either on Saturday December 21st or Sunday December 22nd.
They ended up pushing back the announcement of when the game would be played. Funny thing is that shortly before it was announced, I had to try to figure for myself when it would be announced. But shortly after trying to get word on it, the NFL released the prime time week 16 schedule. Denver will not be playing on that Saturday.
Instead, Denver will welcome the Detroit Lions three days before Christmas on December 22nd. The kickoff for the game will be at 2:05 PM MT, 4:05 PM EST.
This game will also feature the popular color rush jersey’s for the Denver Broncos. Since 2016, the Denver Broncos and the rest of the NFL get the chance to wear a special uniform. These jersey’s were originally used for the Thursday Night Football games.
In the first two seasons, the Broncos wore the color rush on the road. This year will mark the second straight time the team will wear them at home. Denver is 2-1 when wearing color rush, for what it is worth.
As for the game itself, it will be interesting where both these teams are when this game kicks off. Right now, both teams are under .500, so it made sense to have this game on Sunday instead of Saturday.
Denver leads the all-time series 7-5, but Detroit has won two of the last three meetings. In their last meeting, Peyton Manning helped Denver get to 3-0 on the young Super Bowl season with a 24-12 win in Detroit.
