The Denver Broncos snapped a two-game losing streak with starting quarterback Brandon Allen, making his first regular season appearance. How’d he do?

The Denver Broncos were on a two-game losing streak and the offense was looking as pathetic as ever.

Naturally, the prescription for a victory was putting in backup quarterback Brandon Allen, the guy who was claimed by the Broncos off of waivers from the Los Angeles Rams after a solid showing in preseason play.

Allen, who is in his fourth NFL season out of Arkansas, was playing in his first career regular-season game with limited reps in practice and barely any chemistry with the receivers.

As it turns out, Allen is not half bad. He turned in a nice performance against a solid Cleveland Browns defense. Let’s take a look at the numbers.

Brandon Allen stats vs. Cleveland

  • 12-of-20 passing (60 percent)
  • 193 yards
  • 2 touchdowns
  • 0 interceptions
  • 13 rushing yards
  • 3 sacks

We can’t make any final determinations about Allen based on this one performance, but these numbers reflect a job well done by a backup quarterback and especially considering Allen has never taken a regular season snap and hadn’t started a game since his final game at Arkansas.

With that said, there are some things we can read into about Allen and things we can use from this game to sort of project where we might go from here.
