Denver Broncos fairing well in Brandon Allen’s first start
By Tylor Walden
Brandon Allen is making his first NFL start as the Denver Broncos have used some electrifying plays on offense to get ahead at the half.
With Joe Flacco out for the remainder of the season, the Denver Broncos have turned to Brandon Allen under center. How has he looked in his first 30 minutes of his first NFL start? He has looked solid in my opinion.
The 2016 sixth round draft pick from the Jacksonville Jaguars has appeared to breathe new life into the Denver Broncos offense. He has done it with his arm and has a nice set of wheels to use if they are ever needed. But he has gotten a lot of help thanks to two weapons on offense who have two years or less experience in the NFL.
First up was Courtland Sutton. On the second drive of the game for the Denver Broncos, he was able to catch a football to keep the drive alive on third down. On the very next play, Allen showed off his arm and threw a deep pass to Sutton, who “Mossed” Denzel Ward to make the catch in the end zone for a touchdown.
In the second quarter, it was the first round rookie draft pick Noah Fant who would make his presence known with the longest play from scrimmage this season for the Denver Broncos. He would catch it and break a few tackles on his way to a 75 yard touchdown reception.
This so far as been a solid game from the Denver Broncos. The only true mistake they made was on a Diontae Spencer fumble that put three points on the board for the Cleveland Browns.
Hopefully the Denver Broncos can keep it up and secure win number three. The Cleveland Browns will receive the football to start the second half.
