On the next Denver Broncos Fanzone, I chat with longtime Denver Broncos fan Suzette Maes as we get to chat about the state of the Broncos and on week nine.

It has been a rough first half of the 2019 season for the Denver Broncos. Having lost six of their first eight games was not the start that we were looking for. That is especially true when the team had so many chances to get a handful of wins as well.

Against the Bears, Jaguars, and Colts, the Denver Broncos should have come away with the win. But they were unable to finish the game and lost in the final seconds. Hopefully the team has some more promise in the final eight games.

It will not come easy with all three quarterbacks on the roster with zero NFL experience. But all Broncos Country can do is hope. Another week calls for another Denver Broncos Fanzone.

This week, I got to talk to Suzette Maes, who is a longtime Denver Broncos fan. We have had plenty of conversations regarding this team.

Let us see what she had to say about the state of the Denver Broncos.

The Broncos lost another heartbreaker to the Colts. What, in your opinion, went wrong on Sunday?

The Broncos have seemingly fallen into a habit of mediocre offensive play that ultimately cannot be overcome by a defense likely exhausted from carrying its team. Joe Flacco continues to underwhelm with a frustrated tempo that results in late-game run plays on third-and-5 that cannot be converted and eventually cost Denver the game. The loss in the Colts game displayed all of the same dead-horse errors already played out this season against the Bears and the Jags.

It has truly been a frustrating season, but how much hope so you have in the team for the foreseeable future? What would you want to be done differently?

It’s easy to be a Broncos fan during the good times. It is easy to be excited when there are W’s in the win column. It is fun to brag about your winning team and taunt those who are not. This year has been tough! Losing sucks! It is in losing, however, where the hearts of the true Denver faithful continue to burn with the fearless pride and constant faith that our team will rise again.

My heart is no different. I have faith that the Denver Broncos will once again be the champions we have seen in the past. If John Elway has been unable to do so, I am certainly not qualified to provide a specific blueprint for success, but the one thing I would like to see done differently, is a W instead of an L when the clock hits 0:00.

As a Broncos fan, what is your favorite moment of all time?

That’s easy! The Holy Stokley! September 13, 2009. The game begins with lots of and hope and excitement only to be emotionally squashed when facing the last 28 seconds of the game and your Broncos are less than half a minute from starting out a new season as losers. It was the kind of moment where fans are painfully accepting the defeat and the excitement of the day is just about faded.

The Denver offense is pitted pretty deep with such little time. K. Orton is at the helm and then a deflection, the kind that makes your heart stop and truly accept defeat. But then… a miracle! That deflection takes a fortuitous sail right into the arms of Brandon Stokley! The result is an unexpected, absolutely beautiful 87 yard touchdown and the Denver Broncos win!!!

The Broncos take on the Browns this Sunday. What do you think the team must do to get a win?

Convert on third down. Clock management. And do not allow field goal in the final moments of the game!

Is there a Broncos player who has impressed you the most this season?

I am not certain if he has necessarily impressed me “the most,” but I am definitely impressed by our hometown hero, Phillip Lindsay. He plays with a happy heart and a recovering wrist. He beautifully represents Colorado. Even with a mediocre offense he continues to make the most of the opportunities he is given. In this dark and gloomy season, Lindsay is a little ray of sunshine.

Thank You Suzette for taking the time out to chat with me. Hoping for the best on the second half of the season.
