Browns at Broncos, Part 1

Graham Tiedtke

The Denver Broncos and Cleveland Browns square off in the Mile High City this week. This game, to be quite honest with you, has the potential to be very boring.

Both teams combined have a record of 4-11 and do not look to be heading anywhere.

If the Denver Broncos are going to win this game, they need to stop Odell Beckham Jr and David Njokou. They will also likely need to score a defensive touchdown—something I said last week for the game against Indianapolis. They couldn’t do it.

Brandon Allen starts at quarterback for the Broncos with Joe Flacco out with a neck injury. How will that go? Well, we will just have to wait and see, won’t we?

Even though this game is at home, I just don’t know how much this team is going to do going forward. It has been a terrible season.

Despite starting a quarterback with zero regular season experience, the Denver Broncos will manage to pull off a win against a struggling Cleveland Browns team that has one of the worst offensive lines in the league.

They’ll do it without a single touchdown, relying only on Brandon McManus’ leg to boot four field goals.

I know, it’s Brandon Allen’s first regular season NFL start. He has not taken any regular season snaps during his career. But if there’s any team out there who doesn’t need a trip to Denver to take on a Vic Fangio defense, it’s the Browns. Cleveland’s offense is discombobulated and reeling.

The Browns are going to have to do what not many opposing offenses have done against the Broncos— put up 20 points — to win this game.

I just don’t think a road trip to face the Denver defense is exactly the prescription for the Browns to get back on track, and I think we’ll see a bit of a spark from Denver’s offense.

A struggling Cleveland Browns team travels to Denver to take on a struggling Broncos team in week nine.

The Broncos will see the first of QB Brandon Allen with Joe Flacco sidelined with a herniated disc.

The very-hyped up Cleveland Browns and Baker Mayfield desperately look to get their playoff hopes back on track. This matchup is do-or-die for the Browns, while it’s beginning to feel like it doesn’t really matter whether the Broncos win or not.

At this point, the goal for the Broncos is to figure out what they have in their young guys. However, the stage is set for this to potentially be a good game.

If the Broncos wanted to get back on track, this would be the perfect opportunity, especially for the Broncos’ pass rush to have a day against the struggling Browns’ offensive line. However, that goes both ways; the Broncos’ offensive line has been equally bad. This should be a pretty interesting match-up.
