Trade a late pick for 49ers QB CJ Beathard

Are we really going down this road again?

The Broncos currently have a backup quarterback to Joe Flacco in Brandon Allen. We have no idea what their plan is with rookie Drew Lock.

What we know by now is, the team cannot continue spinning its wheels with Joe Flacco out there for the 2019 season. If this season is considered a loss and the Broncos really don’t want Flacco to play, they might consider throwing a late-round pick to the 49ers for Beathard.

Not only is Beathard going to come on the cheap in terms of draft capital and salary, but he’s also got familiarity with Rich Scangarello and might be able to come in and run this offense effectively enough that some of the young players get an honest look in the system.

Flacco just doesn’t seem to know what to do out there and has resorted to blaming Scangarello.

Although he’s not entirely wrong.

In this day and age in the NFL, you can’t have too many quarterbacks. Beathard has started some games in the NFL, albeit not at a very high level, but still. He could probably go out there in short order and look better than Flacco has all season.

Then again, the list of guys who could do that might be a long one at this point.

If Lock’s not going to play, at least spare us the Flacco charade and play Allen or trade for a guy like Beathard.
