With the trade deadline coming up on Tuesday, Denver Broncos CB Chris Harris Jr. reiterated that he wants to stay in Denver.

After suffering yet another heartbreaking loss on Sunday, the Denver Broncos might continue to be sellers in the trade department.

With the NFL trade deadline coming up on Tuesday, a big defensive name may be on the move: cornerback Chris Harris Jr.

Despite all of the chatter that he might be out the door, Harris Jr. says he does not want to leave the Mile High City.

His reason for not wanting to leave? Well, it’s a good one and it is important.

He also said that, while he wants to stay, it is not up to him.

Staying in one location as you are about to have a child is the ideal thing. But as Harris Jr. said, it’s not up to him. The Denver Broncos are not heading anywhere good this season. It sucks to say that but the truth hurts sometimes. Sometimes things need to change.

I am not saying that a change is necessary for Harris Jr. What I am saying is, the team might go that direction. They did go that direction last week when they traded wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders to the San Francisco 49ers.

Also important to note: The Broncos and Harris Jr. agreed on a pay raise before the season, but were unable to come to an agreement to add years to the deal. It is still possible that, if he remains in Denver, he will get a raise.

Harris Jr. also said after the loss to the Colts that he had trouble focusing all week because of the trade rumors.

Change is inevitable at some point when a new coaching staff takes over and teams start to and continue to lose games. There are times when I think that the Broncos are very close to being a successful team (such as today). Then something happens where they shoot themselves in the foot.

It takes time to get a scheme down. Unfortunately, halfway through the season, things look to be slow on both sides of the ball. For example, Von Miller has just four sacks on the season, which is his lowest sack total of his career through this many games in a season.

Harris Jr. has just one interception.

You also have to realize that sometimes stats — or lack thereof — do not tell the whole story. They do not record things like “coverage” stats, except for Pro Football Focus, which is not reliable.

Whatever happens come Tuesday at 2 PM, Harris Jr. has made it clear that he wants to stay with the Denver Broncos. Maybe the two sides can work something out at the end of the year.
