Chris Harris Jr. (By Graham Tiedtke)

When it comes to Denver Broncos cornerback Chris Harris Jr., a lot of people  consider him one of the top cornerbacks in the game today.

He has shown that he can be a lockdown cornerback and teams often try to stay away from his side of the field because of the risk of throwing interceptions.

Ever since he joined the Broncos as an undrafted free agent in 2011, Chris Harris Jr. has recorded twenty interceptions and four pick-sixes. He has defended 83 passes and forced six fumbles in his career.

Unfortunately, he and the Broncos were unable to agree on a long-term contract this past offseason, and he will hit free agency after the season.

Unless he gets traded and his new team can agree with him on a long-term deal.

What would the Broncos get for CHJ?

It would make sense for the Broncos to get a first-round pick for one of the top cornerbacks in the entire NFL, but that probably won’t happen.

The reason? He is on the bad side of 30. So while Harris Jr. is playing at a top level, the question is how long he can keep that up.

The best-case scenario for the Broncos was if a team was desperate for a cornerback and would fork over a first-round pick, plus more. However, a pick in any of the early rounds would be okay, too.

Also, if a team traded a later-round pick for him, there’s a higher chance of said team trading even more draft picks—and maybe even a player—to the Broncos.

What teams could be interested in Chris Harris Jr?

Well, first we have to figure out which teams are buyers and which teams are sellers.

To me, sellers include the Miami Dolphins, Washington Redskins, and  Atlanta Falcons. Those teams are at the bottom of the standings and probably would like to rebuild, get younger and start over.

They’re out.

The teams I can see being interested in Harris Jr. are:

  • Philadelphia Eagles (rumors, rumors, rumors)
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers — Currently, their salary cap projection for 2020 is $83,746,186, which is the sixth-highest)
  • Baltimore Ravens — They have $61,585,964 in salary cap for 2020 and why not add a solid CB to a defense that already has Earl Thomas?
