The Denver Broncos laid an egg against the Kansas City Chiefs on TNF, marking a record low. Is this the beginning of the end for the Broncos?

Well, Broncos Country, Thursday’s abysmal performance at home versus the Kansas City Chiefs has left most either at a complete loss for words, or the complete opposite — emotional fans are giving the organization and players an earful on social media.

This is likely the worst performance by the Denver Broncos in recent memory. They even scored more points in the embarrassment that was Super Bowl 48.

A team that many were so hopeful about after last week’s shutout win has sent us all crashing back to reality once again, unfortunately.

A struggling Chiefs defense looked elite after racking up eight sacks on Joe Flacco (and a ninth on punter Colby Wadman), a season-high for the Chiefs. The offense did not reach even 250 yards of total offense, and Garett Bolles looks to be on the hot seat again after adding three more holding penalties to the season’s total, and a fake punt gone bad would prove to be the least of the Broncos’ worries.

There is much to unpack from this game, because, in all reality, there was very little good in this game past the first drive. While the season truly is not over yet, the Broncos are on extremely thin ice with no more margin for error. They got embarrassed at home against a division rival and the worst news?

They still have to play the Chiefs at Arrowhead later on in 2019.

What does the future hold for this Denver Broncos team? What should be expected going forward? Will the Broncos have a firesale at the trade deadline? Will we be seeing the Drew Lock era begin soon? Who will be held accountable, and who should be held accountable?

While the future of the Broncos remains foggy, one thing is pretty clear — this team is not a playoff contender, at least not this year. It is likely that we are seeing the Broncos in a soft rebuild period.

What that means is while the Broncos still have talented pieces, they are just still a ways away from contention. If the Broncos wish to be contenders any time soon, serious issues will need to be addressed, beginning with the offensive line and QB play.

Flacco, offense lead comedy of errors in loss. dark. Next

Many of our questions will be answered soon enough, but going forward, the Broncos will likely be making a splash in the headlines, one way or the other.
