The Denver Broncos face a critical juncture of their 2019 season against the Kansas City Chiefs. Here are five players who must step up.

On a Thursday night against the Kansas City Chiefs, the 2019 Denver Broncos face their most critical juncture of the season.

Is this team really going to make a push in the AFC West?

A couple of weeks ago, that would have been an irrational idea. Now? Not so much.

As a matter of fact, the 2-4 Broncos have to be feeling pretty good heading into a short week against the 4-2 Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs have lost two games in a row, and a Broncos win would close the gap between the two teams considerably, putting the Broncos at 3-4 and the Chiefs at 4-3 with an early tie-breaker in Denver’s favor.

A win against the Chiefs also doesn’t seem as impossible as it did three weeks ago, as the Chiefs are significantly hobbled for this game with some critical players out due to injury and others — notably Patrick Mahomes — playing with injuries.

If the Broncos are going to win, it’s obviously going to take a collective effort with everyone getting involved and doing their job, but I want to take a look through five specific players whose role in this game could loom large.
