Broncos vs. Chiefs Staff Picks

Graham Tiedtke

The Denver Broncos have won two  straight games after going 0-4 in the first quarter of the 2019 season. Now they face a Chiefs team that has dropped their last two games, both of which were home games.

Denver’s pass rush could be coming together and their run defense has been top notch the last two weeks.

It will be difficult to stop Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes because of his running ability and also his ability to make crazy throws. The big question I have is whether or not his ankle is healed. If it is, that’s bad news for Denver.

The Broncos will have to win this game offensively. Courtland Sutton and Phillip Lindsay should have a big day against a poor Chiefs defense. Emmanuel Sanders should play despite re-aggravating a knee injury last week. That will definitely help the Broncos get a win at home.

I think that Denver will win by a narrow margin because a number of Chiefs starters were ruled out for the game.

The Denver Broncos come into this game on a two-win streak, while the Kansas City Chiefs come into Denver on TNF on a two game losing streak.

The Broncos look to pull off the major upset, while the Chiefs look to bounce back and solidify their first place standing in the AFC West.

If the Broncos want any chance of winning this game, they cannot rely solely on their defense again. Patrick Mahomes and company will be much more difficult to wear down than Marcus Mariota and the slow Titans offense.

The struggling Broncos offense needs to take advantage of Kansas City’s weaker defense and be able to sustain drives to avoid keeping the defense (and Patrick Mahomes) on the field all night.

I predict that the Broncos put up a fight against their divisional opponent, but the Chiefs come away with the win on Thursday Night Football.

I think the Denver Broncos are going to make this a much closer game than one would have thought three weeks ago, but I just can’t see the Chiefs slipping into a three-game losing streak.

Mahomes, who has been struggling with an ankle injury, has another week to get healthy, and you better believe Andy Reid will have some tricks up his sleeve to account for Kansas City’s struggling offensive line. I do expect this to be a high-scoring affair and a close game, with the Chiefs coming out on top.

Denver is on a roll. That is what I like to see. However, the team has a short week to prepare for the AFC West leading Kansas City Chiefs. The offense is just too powerful. But they do have a weakness.

I have noticed that Patrick Mahomes has hobbled on the field quite a bit. That will impact his mobility. If the Broncos pass rush can get to him, it is going to be a long day. But the secondary needs to be healthy, which is appears as if that is mostly the case, except for Bryce Callahan.

This game will be a lot closer than people believe. But with what appears to be an injured Mahomes and a porous defense that Denver is facing, there could be something there.

Psst, I don’t want to jinx it, but Joe Flacco has never lost against the Chiefs. I think that continues. Broncos get their first win against Kansas City since week two of the 2015 Super Bowl season.
