The Denver Broncos shut out the Tennessee Titans, so there are plenty of game balls to go around. Who stood out in this dominating defensive bout?

After a dismal 0-4 start to the 2019 season, the Denver Broncos are now 2-4 following wins against the Los Angeles Chargers and Tennessee Titans.

The Broncos got their first victory of the season a week ago and just notched their first win at home this season with a dominating defensive performance, a 16-0 shutout in which the Titans benched starting quarterback Marcus Mariota.

There’s obviously more context to that than just this game, but it’s obvious the Broncos got to Mariota, forcing him into his first (and second) interceptions of the season. The interceptions thrown by Mariota were his first this season and he was one of the league leaders in terms of consecutive passes attempted with no picks.

It’s safe to say that Vic Fangio’s defense is taking form.

Before we look at standout individual players, let’s take a look at some key stats for the Denver defense as a whole in this game.

  • 0 points allowed
  • 3 interceptions
  • 7 sacks
  • 9 tackles for loss
  • 10 QB hits
  • 5 pass breakups
  • 1 forced fumble
  • Titans: 1.9 yards per carry as a team
  • 2-of-14 on 3rd downs
  • 0-for-2 on 4th downs
  • 0 rushing first downs

Not only that, they held Marcus Mariota to a QB rating of 9.5 in this game.

So let’s take a look at which players made the biggest difference. There were plenty, and a number of players who picked up where they left off last week.
