Derek Wolfe, DE
Although Derek Wolfe’s injury history is troubling, his toughness has never been a question and he’s been one of John Elway’s best draft picks ever.
He was billed as a big-time pass rusher coming out of Cincinnati in 2012, but Wolfe has developed into one of the Broncos’ best run defenders and that’s where his primary strength is currently.
I wish we could see Wolfe get back to the place he was in back in 2015-16 when he had a whopping 32 quarterback hits in Wade Phillips’ defense, but his strong all-around play is good enough that the Broncos should keep him around.
Wolfe has publicly expressed interest in returning to the Broncos in the past, so it wouldn’t surprise me if the team decided to work out a deal with him before the season was over.
Wolfe will be 30 at this time next year, but he’s a valuable veteran piece on that Denver defensive line and excellent, historically, at opening things up for Von Miller in the pass rush.
